France Consents 1.7 GW of Solar and Wind Power Projects

The French Ecology Minister has declared that around 300 solar and wind power projects approved with deadline extensions due to outbreak of coronavirus. According to Elisabeth Borne, the progress of several renewable projects and calender of France’s renewable tenders have been interrupted by this outbreak.

After attending the video conference with developers on Wednesday, Borne stated that the actions have been taken to maintain to support the sector, comprising the freezing of power rates for small rooftop solar projects, which were anticipated to reduce on April 1.

Among the 300 projects that were accepted, 35 are aground wind projects with a full capacity of 750 megawatts, while the remaining projects are solar projects.
